The most recent KidLit Drink Night took place last night at Sweet & Vicious, at the corner of Spring & Elizabeth Streets in the Soho section of New York City. KidLit Drink Night is a chance for children’s book editors, librarians, and authors to meet and mingle.
This program was created by Elizabeth Bird of the New York Public Library and Cheryl Klein of Scholastic, but as of this meeting, they have passed the leadership on to a new set of hosts.
Faye Bi works at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
Christina McTighe is the School and Library Marketing Assistant for Penguin Young Readers Group.
Mackenzie Reide is the author of The Adventurers of Troll Creek, a new adventure series for 8 to 12 year olds.
Heather Scott is the Assistant Merchandising Director for Scholastic Book Clubs (and she credits KidLit Drink Night with helping her make the connections that led to the job!)
While I was there, I noticed that a second group of YA authors happened to be having a get-together across the room, so it looks like this was the place to be last night for people interested in children’s and young adult literature.
KidLit Drink Night tends to happen about once a month. All are welcome. You can get on the mailing list by sending an email to nyckidlitdrinks at gmail dot com. I look forward to seeing you there.
